On the 3rd, 4th and 5th of February, IPAM and the Carauari Agricultural Producers Association (ASPROC) held the 1st workshop regarding the formulation of the Riverine Commerce Business Plan, attended by ASPROC directors and technicians, by the Agricultural Workers’ Union and by cantiniers and IPAM representatives. The meeting took place in the São Raimundo community, 30 hours from the municipality of Carauari (Amazon).

The initiative of a riverine commerce is an ASPROC idea that began to take shape in 2009, in communities that live on the margin of the Juruá River, a municipality of Carauari (Amazon). It seeks to meet the demand of consumption and sales of the riverine communities’ production through canteens (commerce warehouses) located within these communities. However, this initiative was created without a specific planning for commerce.

Thus, IPAM’s Project, in partnership with ASPROC, leads the strengthening of the Riverine Commerce through a series of activities, among which are the formulation of a Business Plan, which provides for a business profile, market analysis and competitiveness, strategic evaluation, marketing, operational and financing plan and construction of scenarios for initiatives.

The author of the Plan is Hélio Pontes, cooperatives administrator, experienced with Amazon communities.
